Wearing your mother's dress sounds so wonderful. Well I would have loved to wear my mother's dress but the orange and brown flowers scattered all over not so much. And don't get me started on the hat. What what she thinking?? She told me, "that was the style back then and I felt beautiful". I get it it was 1976.
I wish I had come up with this idea when I was getting married. Instead of wearing a dress that is probably not current in style, doesn't fit or might be slightly damaged, you can just incorporate elements from it in your new gown. You can use beads, lace, broaches and any element you like from her dress to yours. Not only on your gown but your veil, your bouquet, little hair pieces for your flower girls and also on the ring pillow. Also keep in mind, that covers your something old.
So ladies take your mom's dress out of the box and create a heirloom that can be passed from generation to generation.

That's such a great idea!! One of my brides just did that for her wedding, she had her mother's dress remade into a dress for her and it looked awesome!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to have someone that wants to do that:)
